MJ pfun pfact

MJJNews#MJFact: MJ guest starred in a Simpsons episode, but due to his contract with Sony, he could not sing, so a sound-alike was used.

Interesting. If this is true – when I watched that episode way back when I never thought it was him. Then life went on and I never thought anything more of it. Does this mean I have a good ear??

Hah! It is true and I was right. It takes a lot more than a generic high tenor to sound like Michael Jackson. But, I remember back when some people couldn’t tell the difference between Michael Jackson and Prince and that’s even more of a stretch.

Tribute cancelled

JacksonSourceJermaine’s Tribute in Vienna cancelled…..? www.jackson-source.com

It’s been reshedoouled for London sometime next year.  Anyway in my opinion this is too bad. The thing in the castle sounded nice. I was picturing  a classy event under tivoli lights and Michael Jackson’s “Human Nature” wafting through the gardens …. Stop. Wait. We are talking a MJ tribute concert – it would hardly have been that sedate. It must be nice to be one of the scheduled acts like Sister Sledge and be told that you weren’t good enough eh. One of the biggest effects of the death of Michael Jackson has been to expose and magnify the abject cruelty of the entertainment business. If this keeps up soon listening to pop music is going to feel like knowing that you’re wearing sweat shop clothes. Is there a difference? I’ll stop here.

What MJ went through was so unfair,

yet he succeeded. In the end, he was the biggest artist ever.

He faced the headwinds but he made it .

To celebrate Michael Jackson’s birthday, over 12000 people Mexico City danced to his mega-hit “Thriller” simultaneously in one place in order to break into the Guinness Book of World Records. Read about it here.

Michael’s sister Janet Jackson and his nephew Taj Jackson share very nice pictorial tributes on their websites.

Elsewhere in the world fans remembered Michael Jackson through costuming and dance. Follow the link below to see parties in London, Paris, Berlin, Bucharest, Chennai and New Delhi.

Lookin’ beautiful together!!

The resolution on these videos is bad but I love them anyway. I never saw these when they originally aired because I was either not in the U.S. or otherwise engaged but good thing I didn’t. I don’t know that my young heart could have taken it. :)

Results of Jackson autopsy to remain sealed

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090810/ap_on_re_us/us_michael_jackson_autopsy

Sounds like this is temporary but it would be a good thing if the record(s) remained sealed over the long term. By that I mean very long term as in at least 75 years. Let the media play “write a scary MJ autopsy story” whilst crouched over their laptops and chomping down on s’mores until they get bored and move on to something else. That’s the way I’d like it to be.

Meanwhile, counting the days till the “move along, break it up, there’s nothing more to see here kids” moment. That will be a good day.

A 3,000-year-old Egyptian bust bears an uncanny resemblance to the King of Pop.

I have to say the use of “Jacko” by the media annoys me. He had a name. The “Jacko” thing was disrespectful when they came up with it, and doubly disrespectful to use a pejorative nickname to refer to the dead. The next level of this is that I have noticed in my brief survey of the fan boards is that some fans who don’t speak english as a first language don’t know that “Jacko” wasn’t a fond nickname so they just use it without thinking that they’d be insulting the artist they admire. Oh well – such are the ironies of life.

Anyway if you’ve seen enough Kemet/Egypt pics you know that they all resemble black people we know today in the here and now so not surprising if this one looks like MJ. Queen Tiye is a dead ringer for one of my cousins. The story says the bust is of a female – oh well in that case don’t say she looks like Michael (or rather that Michael looked like her) instead just say she looks like Janet.

Anything for money

Who do you think says it better? The Ojays or MJ?

I say they both make valid points.

It just occurs to me that in this picture MJ is the blood on the dance floor. Clever.

Rodney Yee on Michael Jackson

My favorite yoga guru has spoken well. It takes one dancer (Yee) to understand the art of another dancer (Michael Jackson). This reminds me that I’ve never felt so well as when I was doing AM yoga with my Rodney Yee DVD’s and I need to get back into it.

Michael Jackson: Who Was He Really?

by Rodney Yee | July 31st, 2009

http://blog.gaiam.com/blog/michael-jackson-who-was-he-really/

OK, I admit, I have been captivated by the media blitz around Michael Jackson. Our TV has been tuned to countless MJ videos and news commentaries. Sure, he was a big part of my music and dance history, which accounts for some of the fascination, but it still leaves me wondering …

What I do know is that beyond his brilliant voice, his dazzling dance moves and his infectious rhythm, I know nothing about who he really was. Strange enough, though, I notice myself and others judging him, praising him, or both, as if he belonged to our immediate family. He served both as a demon and a demigod, depending on who the media and his audience needed him to be. Read the rest of this entry »

From Michael Jackson’s Chef

Speaking of the value of eating a healthy diet (which anyone can do on any budget btw – you don’t have to be the King of Pop) here’s a Michael Jackson story that doesn’t make my stomach clench up for a change. This story doesn’t jibe with the stories about him being skeletal and not eating in his final months. In the rehearsal film clip he does not look skeletal – unless of course he was wearing a lot of layers.

This story also proves my point that the ridiculous TMZ story who thought it was a cute angle to report that the medics didn’t realize he was MJ – they thought he was just another emaciated old man (just another old man who lived in a really big house, like a swanky hotel really, with a lot of staffers inside and lots of devotees outside) is b.s. I said as much on a discussion board and someone told me I’d be surprised to find out how many people don’t give a #$%^ about MJ. (Gee – thanks for the eye opener).  I didn’t say they had to care, but to say that they didn’t know who he was seems like some idiot’s cheap idea of a diss.

I’m just a fan and for me it was all about the music and the dance – I never actively followed the buzz positive or negative and for the past 20 years it’s been mostly negative. Repeat – I’m just a fan and I think a lot of what is being said is sickening (and yes I avoid a lot of it). So how his family holds up under this is a testament to strength. That is all I can say.

Anyway/anywho here’s the AP story.

Jackson chef recalls doctor’s role, final days
Associated Press

LOS ANGELES – On the day Michael Jackson died, his personal chef says her first hint of something amiss was when his doctor didn’t come downstairs to get the juices and granola he routinely brought the King of Pop for breakfast each morning. Read the rest of this entry »
